While watching Samsung Galaxy S3 launch, I found few interesting features like Pop-up play, All Share feature, which might be making real difference between Galaxy S2 vs Galaxy S3. These Smart Phones are currently replacing the Cameras, Camcorders, etc., one of the major reasons is because of their portability. But, if you are serious about taking Photos or recording short films, then none of the Mobiles or SmartPhones or tablets can replace the Digital SLR Cameras or Camcorders. I mostly use these Camcorders while shooting short-films and the other day, I got my new Kodak PlaySport Zx3 whose performance just kicked my inferior complexion towards Pocket Camcorders.
Before, starting our post, there are few considerations that you need to accept between a normal HD Camcorder and a Pocket HD Camcorder. As the portability increases, the features and the performance obviously dips a bit, as the manufacturers need to sacrifice something for the portable design. You might be aware of the buzz that Nokia’s 808 Smart Phone created with its 41MP camera which lags decent battery backup.

[highlight-blue]Here is our list of Best Pocket HD Camcorders for 2012.[/highlight-blue]

1. Kodak PlaySport Zx3

Kodak PlaySport Zx3
I currently own this Pocket Camcorder, as it is capable of shooting the video at maximum resolution of 1080p@30fps, it can also shoot in other resolution modes like 720p @60 fps, 720p@30 fps and 848×480 pixels @30 fps. It is a waterproof device that allows us to take videos underwater (upto 10 feet) and it doesn’t carry the touch-screen facility. If you are searching for a Portable HD Camcorder, that is easy to handle, then I recon this is not definitely the one that you must be looking for. Despite of its smaller size, it is loaded with multiple options at one place which might make life difficult initially, but still the performance is really great and I assure you as it makes you to forget normal HD Camcorders for sure. One of the major reasons for me to buy it is its video recording, image quality, and its water proof. It may cost anywhere between[highlight-blue] $74 to $150.[/highlight-blue]

2. Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10
Till last second it was my first priority, but dropped it because it doesn’t have component cable and the auto-focus is bit slow. The Design of Sanyo Xacti is really great. Not only the design, but also the features like video shooting resolution of 1080p HD with decent compression technology, loaded with 5x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom, and excellent control over adjusting your screen angle. It is capable of focusing around 12 faces at a time and can take 10MP still snaps. The video and picture quality of this device are simply mind-blowing. It may cost anywhere between [highlight-blue] $160 – $225.[/highlight-blue]

3. Toshiba’s Camileo

Toshiba Camileo
It is one of the best Pocket HD Camcorders that are available these days. It is one of the best choices for casual video shoots. Its design is a complete contrast to the traditional flip-style Camcorders. Though it appears like a Mobile Phone, it bags some exciting features like Video Resolution of 1080p with 5MP still snap capability, Water Proof(upto 7 feet depth), and not to forget the battery capacity is also pretty decent around 70 – 90 minutes of recording can be done. It is capable of shooting HD videos as well as high quality pictures, but the shutter speed of the device is pretty slow, which is one of the major reasons for me to skip it. It is one of the cheapest Pocket HD Camcorders available in the market, which costs around [highlight-blue] $99 – $130. [/highlight-blue]

4. Samsung HMX-U20

Samsung HMX-U20
The Major reason for me to consider it in my list is because of its capability to take 14MP still pictures and 1920x1080p full-HD video recording capability, it supports the removable memory storage range up to 32GB which is one of the best aspects. Despite of some of these interesting features, there are some demerits like low quality lens, the format issues with the videos makes it to stay behind the race. I’d like to request you not to compare Samsung HMX-U20 with your Galaxy S3 or Galaxy S2. It may cost anywhere between [highlight-blue]$150 to $180.[/highlight-blue]

5. Creative Vado HD

Creative Vado HD
It is loaded with almost every feature to compete with current Pocket HD Camcorders. The features like maximum video resolution of 720p, 4GB internet storage, easy to handle, Wide-angle lens. One of the demerit with this device is it doesn’t have any removable storage. It is capable of recording HD videos with great quality even in low-light. It may cost anywhere between [highlight-blue]$170 to $220.[/highlight-blue]

Conclusion

These are some of the best Pocket HD Camcorders that you must check for 2012. If you are about to compare Galaxy S2 vs Galaxy S3 in order to make a decision, exploring the features will definitely help, while comparing the features of Galaxy S3 with one of these Camcorders sounds really crazy, but I assure you these devices will definitely will in Video recording feature. In our future posts, we’ll be comparing these devices and we’ll help you to make a perfect decision.
