It’s the color of flamingos, roses and much more – but is there really such a thing as pink? Pink is a combination of red and violet, colors which occur at opposite ends of the spectrum; if one looks at a rainbow – these two colors lay on the opposing sides of the spectrum.
When one looks at an object that is pink they are in essence seeing certain “wavelengths of light”, reflecting or bouncing back, rather than the color itself being pink; in essence pink is a made up colour – our brain is creating it through the translation of light bouncing off objects.
The color Pink is the favourite of little girls the world over, associated with femininity, springtime and romance. Yet , according to scientists, the colour pink does not actually exist. Well it does, but only in our minds. Films have been made in lieu of the color such as ” Pretty in Pink “, ” Pink Cadillac ” and ” Pink Flamingos “, and now the color is spreading itself into Web Design as well.
Most web designers tend to avoid it, and it is usually a color which is strictly limited and reserved for the female sites, as most males deem it detrimental within representing their ‘ masculinity ‘. However, whether or not Pink can be defined as a color or wavelengths of light at the opposing sides of the spectrum, we think the color Pink can be effective within any design if used properly, and not in over-abundance.
Below we have found several such websites who have managed to incorporate the color Pink into their overall web design, and might we say : They definitely look very Pretty in PINK !
Enjoy !
