4 Reasons I Started Seeing an Online Life Coach

A couple of years ago when I turned forty, I woke up feeling like something was wrong or missing in my life. I literally began to contemplate whether or not I was going through a mid-life crisis as this dark looming energy began to feel like the weight of the world was on my shoulders.

I went out and got the book Life Reimagined: The Science, Art, and Opportunity of Midlife by Barbara Bradley Hagerty. The book proclaims that “There’s no such thing as an inevitable midlife crisis. It’s a myth, an illusion. New scientific research explodes the fable that midlife is a time when things start to go downhill for everybody. In fact, midlife can be a great new adventure, when you can embrace fresh possibilities, purposes, and pleasures.”

After reading the book and seeing things from a new prospective, I decided to follow a friends advice and start getting some online life coaching. At first I dreaded the idea of having to get into my car and waste an hour a day to share my most intimate details with someone I did not know. But once I learned that you can meet with the coach virtually and was introduced to an amazing women who had gone through something similar, it worked out great.

Here are four reasons I knew I needed to start working with a coach:

1. Stuck In A Rut

I was stuck in a rut big time. Up until that moment I was doing the same old boring thing over and over again and to be totally honest, I needed someone to kick me in the butt so that I could get a freak new start on life.

2. Lack of Direction

I had no idea what to do or where to go. Not only was I in a rut, but I couldn’t even see what I needed to do. Although I knew I needed to do something, my imagination was stuck and I had no idea which way to go.

3. No One to Really Talk To

Yes, I do have a good group of friends. But to be totally honest, half of them were just as stuck as me so it would be the blind leading the blind. And the other half would just tell me what to do based upon their own experiences. I needed someone who would be unbiased and thats exactly what my online life coach provided.

4. Accountability

Lets face it, if I did not have someone holding me accountable to take action, I just wouldn’t do it. I know myself so well and I can be so lazy that I will procrastinate and never really create any forward momentum.

Suffice it to say I have been doing online coaching now for over six months and I have already seen some great improvements. I still have a lot to go but at the very least I am making strides towards a better future.
