Part Upgrades to Increase Your Truck’s Market Value

The worth of your vehicle is determined by the totality of the car – the model, its condition, and all included features. Installing additional accessories will make it even more valuable and will keep it in its best shape. But before you head out and scour yourself of new parts, it is best that you get an idea of how these new additions affect your car’s value.

Truck’s Market Value

There are two types of auto parts that you can buy: original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and aftermarket parts. OEM parts are made by manufacturers and are used for building vehicles as well as repair and maintenance. Aftermarket parts, on the other hand, are made by third-party contractors and can be installed as upgrades.

If you want to increase your truck’s market value, installing a few aftermarket parts will do the trick. For starters, you can take a look at these four:

Tires

Do not skimp out on your tires, they are an integral part of the driving experience. A good set of tires will set you back around $150 to $300. Having quality tires will have an effect on the car’s performance. The better the car performs with the new wheels, the higher the resale value.

It is also recommended that you get two sets of tires, especially if you live in an area with prolonged winters. You may want to keep another set of tires as well if you often visit areas with rough roads and tracks. Look for tires with rubber compounds that are optimized for the temperature or for the outdoor condition. You can sell off your extra set of tires for an additional price later on.

Body Kit

A car’s appearance is a big factor in its resale value. Most people alter their vehicle by installing a body kit, which is a set of modified parts like bumpers and side skirts. Upgrading some parts such as hood scoops and spoilers are also known to improve vehicle performance too. You have the option to buy them in sets or as individual parts.

If completely altering your car isn’t for you, minor updates are also something to consider. Changing your seat covers to premium leather is one of the many things you can do. Additionally, basic car maintenance like making sure that your truck’s tonneau cover is polished or your headlights are still in good condition are just some of the easiest ways to maximize your car’s look.

Satellite Navigation

Otherwise known as sat-nav or GPS system. Buying a car with a built-in sat-nav is a smart investment. Not only is it useful for long trips and car rides but by the time you want to sell off your car, you have the advantage to put up a higher floor price since your car has the feature that is most sought-after by buyers.

Additionally, sat-navs are known to retain their value over time. If you purchase and install a $550 system, the price will most likely be the same even after two years.

Bluetooth

Most car manufacturers already preinstall Bluetooth in their models, but if your car doesn’t have one, you might want to consider replacing your stereo with one that has Bluetooth capability. Playing music or answering phone calls can be done hands-free, making it an in-demand feature among potential buyers. Since Bluetooth-enabled stereos retain half of its value for over three years, it is an excellent investment to have for your truck.

A word of caution though, don’t overdo it! Not every part upgrade will increase your truck’s value. In fact, some major alterations can be a turn down to some buyers. Take note of your target market’s preferences and keep note of trendy car upgrades. Make smart investments on your car and sell it at a premium.
