Best Time to Visit

The summer season ranging from April to June is considered to be an off season for visiting Bhalukpong. The temperature is pretty warm during the day time while nights are comparatively cool, ranging around 30 ºC and minimum as 6ºC. If you are on holiday and low on budget then you can plan for this time as you can get a discount on various tour packages too!

Monsoon provides a soothing temperature after the hot summer season. This could also be a good time to visit.The winter season (October- March) is considered to be the best season, temperature falling approx -8 ºC to -9 ºC. • Pakke Tiger Reserve (PTR) – Those having a passion for photography, this reserve can serve as one of the best places for viewing various species of hornbill and other rare species. This reserve provides you with a pristine landscape and home for various flora and fauna. The brilliant efforts by the National Government and the local community tribe to protect the wildlife are worth appreciating. This tiger reservoir won national award for providing shelter to various threatened species like tiger, leopard, wild cat, wild boar, bison and others.

• Bhalukpong Fort – The fort is said to have built before the 10th Century and was the seat for King Bhalukpa. Though later it was ruled by the king of Assam Palas during the 12th Century CE. If you are having a keen interest in knowing the unknown ruling dynasty of India, make a visit here, the fort is now in ruins, still one can find some remains of a few brick structures and ring wells.

• Sessa Orchid Sanctuary – The scenic beauty of the landscape dotted with more than 200 variety of orchids makes it beautiful and a must place visit of Arunachal. This park spreads around for about 100sq km cultivating approx 80 species of rare and ornamental orchids leaving the tourists in amaze. This sanctuary also provides a home to red panda, serows and pheasants. Accommodation is not a problem here. Various guest houses and bungalows are made available.

Outdoor Activities

People with a sense of adventure can undergo hiking, globo surf, river rafting, trekking in the Kameng river. Rafting has increasingly gained popularity in this area. Rafting down the river in a rubber dinghy and angling for Mahseer is what you can enjoy. Though fishing is done all year round the river is in its zenith form during the monsoons.

As already said Bhalukpong is a small town with very little options available for accommodations. They are small in size but offering you with the best services that one can expect from the eminent star hotels. The rooms are clean and provide you with the best view of the city with friendly attitude of the staffs that too at pocket-friendly rates.

Bhalukpong is not so easily accessible place and is a bit difficult to reach. There is no direct flight or trains to reach here. Food and water may also be an issue for a few people. But the warm welcome of the inhabitants will make you feel homely. This spot also provides a peaceful environment for the artist getting inspired by its richness and culture.
