Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty Endowment Meets Its Goal Two Years Early

Amazing things are happening through Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty Endowment. The charity, founded in 2009, is celebrating the fact that it accomplished its goal of getting 100,000 veterans into meaningful employment — two years faster than anticipated.

“To put 100,000 placements in perspective, the entire active-duty Marine Corps is made up of more than 178,000 people,” said Gen. James L. Jones, United States Marine Corps (retired) and co-chair of the endowment. “While reaching 100,000 placements two years earlier than our goal is an accomplishment to be proud of, there is much more we can do, and should be doing, to support our veterans as they transition to civilian employment.”

It started with a $125,000 donation to the Paralyzed Veterans of America in 2009, which helped create thousands of job opportunities for soldiers returning from war in the Middle East. In honor of the most recent accomplishment, Activision Blizzard announced it’s investing an additional $30 million into the program. Additionally, the endowment is now focused on placing another 100,000 veterans into quality jobs. For the past 12 years, the charity has partnered with nonprofit veterans organizations in the United States and the United Kingdom to help secure excellent career opportunities for servicemen and women as they return to civilian life.

“To date, we have invested over $60 million in support of veterans’ employment initiatives,” Bobby Kotick, Activision CEO and co-founder of the endowment, said. “With our even more efficient programs, we expect to generate another 50,000 job placements through Call of Duty Endowment grants.”
