Recently over 500 million users have joined Facebook, whereas around 10 million people have been welcomed by Google Plus since its launch.
Nowadays joining a social networking site is not only deemed the status quo, but it also allows users to find and stay connected with their friends, family and colleagues. Facebook, the social networking giant who holds the greater number of users on the internet, provides different types of applications and recently FB came out swinging full force against its competitor ( Google Plus ) by launching its new privacy features which rival those of Google Plus.
Amidst all of this ongoing hoopla that has been presiding amongst both rivaling Social Network Giants and the race in which will emerge as the winner of the social network game , there were several Developers on G+ who had begun creating various extensions which basically allowed modification of the G+ UI and overall design .
This allowed for easier readability and usability as well as enhancing and improving the stark white design of G+ . Users were implementing every extension which offered some type of improvement towards their G+ profile design . However, most of those extensions became buggy and broke every other day since Google continually kept upgrading and making changes to its UI . Thus , this left many users disheartened at having to part with the modified versions of their G+ design.
Wouldnt it be great however if users could ‘ theme ‘ or change the overall design of every site across the web, without having to lose those modification each and every time a network made upgrades ?
To be able to skin or theme G+ , Youtube , Twitter , Yahoo , Google and yes – even the standard white and blue design of Facebook !
There is now a way by which to modify and theme ( skin ) any site across the web without losing those customization features every time upgrades occur. Gone are the days when one gets bored with the default look of Facebook, Yahoo, Google Search Engine Page, YouTube profile, Google Plus and many more. Now users can change their profile themes according to their moods and their choice on both browsers with the help of Stylish Extensions available for both browsers such as : Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Here are the few steps which will help users and allow them to make their profile pages more stylish and colorful. The guidelines described below apply to both Google Chrome and Firefox.
Step 1.
Firstly one needs to install the Stylish extensions according to the web browser of their choice. If one is using Chrome install the appropriate extension , as well as for FireFox using the install links provided below :
Google Chrome Extension
Mozilla Firefox.
Step 2.
After installing the Stylish Extension users will see an ‘S’ button ( icon) on their browser located near their URL Address Bar ( on Firefox it may appear at the bottom right of your browser ) .
After installing the Stylish Extension, users simply need to click on the ‘S’ icon and a drop down panel will appear with Options, such as : “Find More Styles Like this “. Once a user clicks on this, a new tab will open to the UserStyles site where you will be presented with the skins ( themes ) according to the particular Profile you wish to skin or modify .
Step 3.
Users simply need to search for a particular theme / skin or they prefer to apply by searching through the Stylish database until one finds the skin of their choice. After choosing a theme one has to click on install theme in order to apply it to their existing profile.
step 4.
The New Theme ( skin) will be effective immediately upon installation. Now a user can view their new profile theme by restarting the browser. With the same procedure users can also change (skin) their profiles for Google Plus, Yahoo, YouTube , Tumblr ,and basically every site across the entire Web. here is a screenshot example of some of my own Profiles which I have skinned ( themed ) below :
Google Plus
Users can simply manage their themes as well by right clicking on ‘S’ button and by clicking on options. Stylish allows users to change ( edit ) the code and can perform various modifications within the CSS, and thus if one is adept at CSS they can alter basically everything if they dont like the way certain things look , though the Edit options.
These stunning and beautiful themes will definitely enhance your social network profiles to your liking , so start tweaking and changing your profile themes and enjoy your user web experience..
Users have to keep in mind that they will be the only ones who will be able to see these changes and no one else since these changes only take place within your own Browser. Unless another web user has the same style installed , they will only see the Default style of that particular site or profile . Enjoy !
